My love for all things technology has possibly come full-circle with my introduction to teaching Computer Science as an English Teacher. Code.org believes that ALL teachers have the ability (and somewhat responsibility) to teach Computer Science, and BOY do I ever agree! My state representative saw a call for teachers to get trained to teach computer science and sent me the information. Next thing I knew I was attending training in Philadelphia to begin teaching the high school level CS Principles course through Code.org. I have NEVER had such a positive and engaging learning experience in my life. I knew right away that Code.org was on to something that I needed to share with everyone I could contact! I began teaching to a small group of students and spreading the word about Code.org and what it provides for all students of all abilities and backgrounds, everywhere.
Fast-forward to a year later. I am in Phoenix, Arizona training to be a Code.org facilitator for the state of Maine, training other teachers how to use Code.org to teach computer science. It is one of the most fulfilling jobs I have ever had and I look forward to every chance I get to spread the word about Code.org's mission and what it provides for teachers and students for FREE! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE check out what Code.org has to offer and sign up for a training near you! Computer Science should be taught to every student, everywhere and you can do your part!
